How to Iron Luxury Sheets

pure parima how to iron luxury sheets

When ironing your sheets, you are essentially applying direct heat in order to manipulate the fabric, so it is important to take a few key tips into consideration for best results. Implementing these best practices will not only lead to better and smoother results, but increase the lifespan of your sheets and reduce any damage or discoloration.

Use the Cotton Setting

Regardless of the material of your sheets, we recommend ironing on the 'cotton' setting to regain a lustrous sheen, as the heat from the iron will not damage the fabric. Be sure to check your iron for any browning before ironing, as this may transfer onto your bedding. High quality sheets like Egyptian cotton will require extra care so always ensure you are using the right setting and take your time to iron over the folds without applying too much pressure and heat.

Choose the Right Temperature Setting

Check the fabric care label for the recommended ironing temperature. For cotton, use a lower setting, especially if it’s a blend. Natural fabrics can scorch easily, so adjust the heat gradually. The cotton setting will allow for an appropriate amount of heat which will carefully remove the wrinkles without damaging the fabric.

Avoid Embroidery & Zippers

Ironing directly over delicate embroidery can damage the embroidered sections. To preserve stitching and embroidery, reverse the bedding and use a cloth or towel underneath for ironing. Avoid ironing directly onto zippers and metal enclosures as this can cause further unnecessary damage to both the fabric and iron.

Use a Spray Bottle for Even Steam

To remove tough wrinkles, use the steam setting on your iron or a spray bottle filled with water. Spray directly onto the wrinkle and re-iron the area until it is fully dry and smooth. For areas with stubborn wrinkles, lightly mist with water or a fabric spray. This technique helps the fabric soften and smooth out with less risk of heat damage.
