How to Eliminate Allergens in the Bedroom

From seasonal to indoor allergies, this pesky nuisance can be difficult to live with, however there are a few ways to reduce the amount of allergens and allergy-inducing particles in your bedroom. Because we spend so much time in our bed, it’s important to prioritize proper hygiene and neatness not only to promote a healthier sleep environment, but to prevent additional medical ailments from occurring so often. Read further for more tips on how to reduce risk and eliminate discomfort.

Wash Sheets Regularly

An obvious one, but not always prioritized, washing your sheets routinely will allow for any dust, dirt, and oil to be removed without the risk of excess build up, leading to more discomfort. We recommend washing your sheets at least once a week so that you can be confident you are sleeping on fresh sheets. When you store your sheets, be sure to store them in a fabric pouch or bin to keep from collecting too much dust which can trigger allergies and disrupt your sleep. All of our sheet and duvet cover sets come equipped with a reusable fabric pouch for easy storage and organization as a great way to keep your bedding fresh and new.

Use Hypoallergenic Bedding

When you are looking for sheets, it’s important to find bedding that is not only hypoallergenic and safe for those with allergies, but keep in mind the materials that are being used to make your sheets. Always look for the OEKO-Tex certification label on all of your linens to ensure they are free of harmful chemicals, making for a safer and cleaner sleeping environment. Certain fabrics like Egyptian cotton are hypoallergenic and safe for your skin, and all of our products are OEKO-Tex certified, so you can be sure you are sleeping on only the safest, cleanest, and reliable bedding products.

Use Pillow & Mattress Protectors

A great way to reduce the risk of allergens is by using pillow and mattress protectors. Pillow protectors are used in between the pillow and pillowcase, which provides an extra layer of protection against dirt, dust, and other unwanted allergy-prone substances. Additionally, a mattress protector will give your mattress that extra protection as well to prevent spills, as well as dirt, grime, and moisture build up on your mattress that can cause sneezing, rashes, and other allergic reactions. Be sure to routinely wash your protectors as well for the most sanitary and clean use of your bedding essentials.

Opt for Down Alternative

Most high quality down, like our European White Goose Down fill, is considered hypoallergenic since it has been double-washed, quadruple-rinsed, and tested, again & again. However, if you suffer from severe allergies or would prefer an alternative, opt for down alternative. Our premium down alternative fill is naturally hypoallergenic and safe for all sleepers. These spiky, spiraled microfibers produce a fluffy alternative fill whose loft mirrors the comforting texture and warmth of genuine goose down.
